With The Crunchy Company at the European Final

Simon Gerig, National Coordinator of the Company Programme, accompanied the Swiss winners of The Crunchy Company to the European Final. He has written a report on his experience, which gives us an insight behind the scenes of the competition and the mini-enterprise:

"As the Swiss winning team of this year's Company Programme, The Crunchy Company was allowed to participate in the European Company of the Year Competition 2021. The competition was held online for the second year running and was organised by JA Lithuania together with JA Europe under the name Gen-E. Generation E stands for "Europeans who believe in the importance of Education, Entrepreneurship and Employment". YES and The Crunchy Company are definitely in the right place!

JA Lithuania combined two big events in one with Gen-E: the European Enterprise Challenge (EEC) and the Company of the Year Competition (CoYC), in which The Crunchy Company participated. The best young entrepreneurs from 40 countries competed in various challenges from 29 June to 15 July. They were judged in three categories: the Company Report, a Commercial Video and an Online Interview. The winner was Scribo from Slovakia, which produces and markets zero-waste markers for whiteboards.

The Crunchy Company was also nominated for the ManpowerGroup Ready to Work Award at Gen-E. For the young entrepreneurs the competition was an unforgettable experience: "It was inspiring to get in touch with other innovative young people and exchange ideas. We were able to make contacts across Europe - friendly and professional - that we will take with us into the future.", they said.

In addition, the participants spent two eventful days in Zurich: On the day of the finals, they enjoyed a fine lunch at Sopra and then attended an exciting guided tour through the shopping area and behind the scenes of the traditional Zurich department store Jelmoli. Thank you Swiss Prime Site for this great experience!

Then it was off to the YES headquarters, where The Crunchy Company watched the Gen-E award ceremony and waved the Swiss flag into the camera. Afterwards, the Swiss winners enjoyed burgers and milkshakes at BlackTap and then recovered at the Youth Hostel. They needed the rest, because on Friday at noon, the winners ventured into Urbansurf: an artificial surf wave in the middle of the city!

With many new experiences and international acquaintances, The Crunchy Company can look back on a successful European final. This experience will certainly remain a good memory for them."
