Economics Olympiad: These Five Winners Will Be Heading to Hong Kong!

Yesterday, the National Final of the Economics Olympiad 2024 took place at the UBS conference centre Grünenhof. Eleven talented young people competed for the title and had to prove themselves in various economics disciplines. The Economics Olympiad is part of the Science Olympiad and is held annually.

To begin with, the participants took a written test in which they had to prove their knowledge of the economic situation or on topics such as the Monetary Policy and the Game Theory. The second test of the day was the Business Case, in which they had to analyse the company findependent. The students had to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the company, customer needs and the market situation. After just 90 minutes, they presented their findings to the jury, which consisted of experts from the economics sector. At the end of the day, the jury had put together the Swiss delegation:

Ruhi Pungaliya, Lukas Trösch, Silvio Scherrer, Elisa Maxhara and Benjamin Thut.

These five economics enthusiasts managed to beat the other participants. They will now go on to the International Economics Olympiad in Hong Kong at the end of July. There, the Swiss delegation will have to prove themselves in subjects such as financial literacy, business administration and economics.

A great thank you goes to all those present for their support and to our partner, UBS for having us.
